    The research on integrated modeling for astronomical telescopes

       The integrated modeling for astronomical telescope is based on the three independent models which are built upon the normally used software of optical system design, mechanical structure design and control system design of astronomical telescope, and upon specified data structure and I/O format.

      The three models are combined to form an integrated model for telescope design and analysis by computer programming. The disturbances of environment such as caloric, wind and seism are integrated into the model by software simulation or actual data. Integrated modeling simulation can provide various analyses of telescope design with high flexibility and efficiency, as facilitates full assessment of performance and cost of the telescope and further accelerates optimization process of the design.

       Concept of the future extremely large telescope (ELT) has been emerging since the transition of the millennium and a couple of design schemes of ELT have been put forward in advanced countries. The enormous cost of ELT is inevitably driving necessary international collaboration. The technique work on integrated modeling for telescopes in China is significant for design and assessment of our Chinese future extremely large telescope and promotional for potential Chinese participation of the international collaboration of ELT projects.
