On February 8 2012,Chinese 28th Antarctic scientific expedition team returned back to Zhongshan station from Dome A after completing scientific expedition of inland。

During Dome A,Du Fujia、Li Zhengyang and Zhang Yi from NIAOT as members of Chinese 28th Antarctic scientific expedition team have finished following tasks:

1): installation and commissioning for first one of AST3(AST3 including 3 Antarctic Survey Telescope)

2): installation and commissioning of PLATO-A(energy support platform) for AST3

3): bring back observation data for CSTAR etc

AST3 (Antarctic Survey Telescope) consists of three Schmidt telescope with schmidt plate aperture of 500mm and spheric mirror aperture of 680mm。

The telescope equipped with 10k*10k ccd camera has function of remote-controlling,point tracking and auto-focusing。

AST3 will become pathfinder for construction of Chinese antarctic observatory and much larger aperture antarctic telescope, which will provide important experience for China to develop large aperture space telescope。
