By the end of August 2008, all the hardware components of the LAMOST telescope had been in place, and initial test was executed.

On 27th September,2008,LAMOST obtained more than 1000 spectra of objects once time during test.Since then LAMOST can continuously obtained as many as 2000 spectra of objects once time. All these spectra of objects as faint as down to 17m with an exposure of 5 minutes were obtained on nights without cloud.

LAMOST has actually been the telescope that possesses the highest spectrum acquiring rate in the world compared with other telescope which can only obtain 600 spectra of objects once time.
