In order to developing the technology of astronomical optical mirrors and completing the coating task of LAMOST, Nanjing Institute of Astronomical Optics and Technology purchased a 1.6m box vacuum coating machine in 2006.
Early May in 2007, the coating machine was carried to the institute.Under leaders’care and with effort of correlative department, a series of work was accomplished, such as main body installation of coater, accessories installation of coater, and room fitment. After two months of equipment debug and technics experiment, reliable technics parameters were obtained, and at the same time coating clamps were ready. Late July, the coating began.
Now three MA mirrors and one MB mirror have achieved the coating, by checking, the film quality is good and reflectivity reaches the design requirement.
