On April 19 2006,“active optics experimental telescope facility” undertaken by NIAOT obtained first class prize of science & technology progress award of Jiangsu province。
It is first reflecting Schmidt telescope adopting active optics technology with 1.1m Schmidt corrector in the world。
It use active optics technology to successfully make hexagonal thin plane mirror produce tilted-axis aspherical surface for compensation of optical system errors。That is one of key technology for reflecting Schmidt telescope with large aperture and wide field of view。
