    First success in China on fabrication of Sic asperical mirror
    with large aperture and high accuracy by NIAOT

       In order to meet requirement of Space astronomical optical system,NIAOT firstly succeed on fabrication of Sic asperical mirror system with aperture larger than 500mm on January 2005 that was checked and received on June 22 2005 by specialist group including 3 academician。

      Concrete opinion on the project given by nine specialists was as follows:

    (1):Key technology for fabrication on Sic aspherical mirror with large aperture and high accuracy has been firstly solved in China。  

    (2):Sic aspherical primary mirror and second mirror reduced 70% weight were manufactured with surface accuracy(RMS)less than 15nm(primary mirror less than 1/50 wavelength,second mirror less than 1/60 wavelength)。Surface roughness of primary mirror was less than 1.8nm,that of second mirror less than 1.5nm。

     (3):Silver film was plated to Sic aspherical mirror。Reflectivity reach 90.5% for primary mirror,93.8% for second mirror with wavelength between 500 and 800 nm。
