On December 10 overall mechanical assembling and adjusting of alt-azimuth mounting for LAMOST was finished and mechanics-electronics joint adjusting of the mounting is underway smoothly。

The mounting support Schmidt corrector which is 5.7m long and 4.4m wide (including 24 hexagonal sub mirrors) and big mirror cell which adopts truss structure。It is mainly used to accurately track the motion of celestial bodies during observation。It is the biggest and most complicated mechanical system in LAMOST。The azimuth rotation pedestal of the mounting with approximately 8m in diameter is the biggest mechanical parts with high accuracy (5 micron unevenness within 5 degree in any direction) in LAMOST。
