On November 29，good news from bureau of science & technology of Jiangshu province was sent to NIAOT. National key project in the Ninth-Five Year plan period funded by NSFC，namely “astronomical mirror technology with large aperture and high accuracy” undertaken by NIAOT won first class prize of science & technology progress award of Jiangsu province in 2004. It took seven years for the project group to develope fabrication technology of very thinner mirror with flexible supporting and fabrication method of large aperture very thinner mirror with close-loop active optics technology.
