Brief introduction

　　Since 1970，12 sets of Lyot filters have been successively provided to inland solar observatories and stations。

　　From 1990，Chinese Lyot filters have been entering the international market。Up to now，19 sets of Lyot filters including a tunable universal filter at overall waveband and one with biggest aperture in the world（50mm）have been exported to Japan，Korea and USA。

　　At present，infrared birefringent filter（at wavelength 1.083，1.564 micro）undertaken by Niaot for Big Bear Lake Observatory of USA is underway。In addition，ONSET for Nanjing University and solar telescope for India have been designing and developing 。

Instruments

　 The research department equipped with a 40cm coelostat，7m grating spectrophotometer，WYKO interferometer，two sets of spectrophotometer working on visual and IR spectral range respectively，a special workshop with interference testing devices for figuring the various crystals like calcite，quartz，MgF2，KDP etc。
