On May 25, 2022, the 1.2-meter astronomical optical telescope for SUN YAT SEN University of China developed by Nanjing Institute of Astronomy and Optical Technology (NIAOT) passed the acceptance inspection and is expected to achieve stable operation at the Observatory station of Sun Yat-sen University in December 2022. The 1.2 m astronomy optical telescope is a multi-functional astronomical instrument integrating high-precision tracking and intelligent control, which can be used for astronomical education and scientific observation. The 1.2 m astronomy optical telescope can give three-color photometry data of variable stars and star clusters at the same time, or provide spectral data for the certification of exoplanets and the measurement of stellar physical parameters. The 1.2-meter astronomical optical telescope adopted an R-C optical system with a focal ratio of 7, wavelength band of 300-1000 nm and a photometric field of view of 15 '', which can achieve tracing accuracy of RMS ≤0.3"/5 min, maximum pointing speed of 2°/s. A variety of scientific instruments was installed in cassegrainian focus of the telescope for photometry observation at blue (400-450 nm), green (480-700 nm) and red (730-1000 nm) wavelength band as well as high resolution spectral observation with spectral resolution R≥30000 or long slit spectral observation with R~1000-3000.
