Workshop on Astronomical Cooperation with the Gran Telescopio CANARIAS (GTC) was held by the Nanjing Institute of Astronomical Optics and Technology (NIAOT), and sponsored by the National Astronomical Observatories of China (NAOC) in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province on 2nd of August, 2019. The workshop was conducted by Yongtian Zhu, Director of NIAOT. Gang Zhao, Deputy Director of the NAOC, generally overviewed the progress and achievement on optical astronomical cooperation between China and Spain. Jianrong Shi (NAOC), Dong Xiao (NIAOT), Kai Zhang (NIAOT) and Liang Wang (Universit?ts-Sternwarte München) introduced the current status and conceptual design of the GTC High-reso lution Ultra-Stable Spectrograph (GTC-HRS). Jifeng Liu (NAOC), Jianmin Wang ( Institute of High Energy Physics, IHEP), Jianning Fu (Beijing Normal University, BNU), Xuan Fang (Hongkong University, HKU) and Guo Chen (Purple Mountain Observatory, PMO) gave academic presentations about black hole, stellar-planetary system, planetary nebula, exoplanet atmosphere studies. The participants deeply discussed the necessity and urgency of astronomical cooperation with the GTC, and finally reached a consensus that the attendees strongly suggest the Chinese astronomers to join the international community of GTC users by providing the GTC-HRS as an in-kind contribution. As a result of this cooperation, the Chinese astronomers will share a certain part of the GTC guaranteed observation time and use any on-board scientific instruments for cutting-edge science cases.
