From May 22 to 23, 2019, a delegation of Australian Astronomical Optics (AAO) visited Nanjing Institute of Astronomical Optics & Technology (NIAOT).
Six experts of the delegation from three member units of AAO, which were Australian National University (AAO-stromlo), Macquarie University (AAO-MQ) and Sydney University (AAO-Sydney) were listed as follows:
1): Roger Haynes (deputy director), Professor Tony Travouillon (instrument scientist) from the Center for Advanced Instruments and Technology of Australian National University
2): Professor Sergio Leon-Saval (director of Astronomical Optics Laboratory of University of Sydney)
3): Professor Jon Lawrence (technical Director) and Ms. Jessica Zheng fromMacquarie University
Prof.Zhu Yongtian (director of NIAOT), Prof.Cui Xiangqun (Cas member), Prof.Gong Xuefei (deputy director), Prof. Hu Zhongwen (assistant director) and several important researchers attended discussion with AAO delegation.
The AAO delegation presented the general situation of AAO and the research field and technology development of AAO-Sydney, AAO-MQ and AAO-Stromlo, respectively. Meanwhile NIAOT introduced the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST), pre-research progress for 2.5m kun Lun Dark Universe Telescope (KDUST) at Dome A as one of Antarctic Observatory project and 12m Large Optical Telescope (LOT).
The two sides have conducted an in-depth exchange and discussion on possible areas of cooperation.
During visiting, the AAO delegation also visited the model of LOT and the relevant technical laboratory, accompanied by Prof.Gong Xuefei.
