In Nov，24th and 25th，2015，Chinese Astronomical Society of 2nd ‘South Pole Star’ Young Scientist Forum was successfully held in Nanjing by Nanjing Institute of Astronomical Optics and Technology (NIAOT), Chinese Academy of Science。

More than 40 young scientists come from 12 universities and institutes attended this forum and gave their wonderful talks，which put focus on the topic of ‘Astronomical Instrumentation and Technology’. The NIAOT leaders, Prof. Yongtian Zhu, Prof. Gouping Li and Prof. Xuefei Gong actively participated as well。

Jinying Qi，Director of Personnel and Education of NIAOT, presided the opening ceremony。Xuefei Gong, Deputy Director of NIAOT，introduced the current status of the institute and young staff in general，then wished the participants strengthened academic communication and cooperation through this opportunity。Yongtian Zhu， Director of NIAOT, and Shenyuan Xu，Dean of Faculty of automation, respectively gave their invited presentations on the topics of ‘Technology Visions on Large Optical / IR Astronomical Telescope’ and ‘Survey of Modern Control Theory’。

At the forum respectively presided by Associate Prof.Kai Zhang from NIAO，and Prof. Weimin Sun from Harbin Engineering University，more than 10 young scientists from different universities and institutes gave their talks to introduce the latest research progress done by themselves or their groups。

At the end, Goupin Li, Party secretary of NIAOT, summarized the result of this forum, wished to strengthen the communication and collaboration among universities and institutes and help more excellent young scientists to make success as soon as possible with drive effect of Youth Innovation Foundation of NIAOT。 

The forum successfully provided good communication platform for excellent young scientists to understand the current status of astronomical instrumentation and technology，and promote more cross-unit interdisciplinary cooperation in future。
