Prof. Sandy Faber (director of Lick astronomical observatory) and Prof. David Koo visited NIAOT

On the afternoon of March 28 2014, Prof. Sandy Faber (director of Lick astronomical observatory and Prof. David Koo visited NIAOT.

After listening to the report that NIAOT joined in Thirty Meter Telescope TMTproject and progress on exoplanet detection,accompanied by Prof.Zhu Yongtian(director of NIAOT),they visited mirror labexoplanet detection labastronomical spectra lab and vertical testing tower.

During visiting,they conducted warmly discussion with related research staff.

Prof.Sandy Faber is a famous USA female astronomer with primary research interests in Cosmology and galaxy formation.She lectures widely on cosmology and the history of the universe.

She was one of three astronomers who diagnosed the optical flaw in the Hubble Space Telescope, and she played a major role in its repair.

She established the scientific case for the twin Keck 10 m telescopes, which inspired a subsequent wave of giant optical telescope building all over the world.

She is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Philosophical Society.

She is co-editor of Annual Review of Astronomy and Astrophysics.
